3D Model Scale Calculator
Resize model dimensions between scale ratios and calculate the exact slicer percentage, area change and volume change.
What Is the 3D Model Scale Calculator?
The 3D Model Scale Calculator converts a model from one ratio scale to another and reports its new width, depth and height. It also calculates the percentage to enter in a slicer plus the squared surface-area factor and cubic volume factor that help explain how a resize can affect coating and material use.
How It Works
Enter the model's current dimensions, select millimeters or inches, then enter the current and target scale denominators. For example, moving from 1:24 to 1:12 doubles every dimension and requires a 200 percent slicer scale. Copy or download the calculation for the print notes.
When to Use It
Use it when resizing miniatures, architectural models, props, tabletop terrain or replacement parts that have a known source scale. Confirm the final dimensions against the printer's build volume before slicing.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How Do I Convert 1:24 To 1:12?
- Divide the source denominator by the target denominator: 24 divided by 12 equals 2, so use 200 percent and double every dimension.
- Why Does The Volume Change Faster Than The Dimensions?
- Volume follows the cube of the linear scale. Doubling width, depth and height can make the geometric volume eight times larger, although slicer shells and infill affect actual filament use.
- Does This Edit An STL File?
- No. It calculates the dimensions and slicer percentage. Apply the result in your slicer or modeling application.
