Duplicate File & Photo Finder
Compare exact file content or flag similar photos, review groups, choose copies to keep and export a report or reviewed archive.
What Is the Duplicate File & Photo Finder?
A local comparison workspace using SHA-256 for exact file matches and an optional 64-bit brightness-difference fingerprint for candidate photo matches. It distinguishes exact duplicates from visually similar suggestions.
How It Works
Choose files, select exact content or similar photos, and scan. Review each group and check the copies to include. Export a CSV report or ZIP containing the checked copies plus unmatched files. Original files remain untouched.
When to Use It
Review a download folder, compare deliverable copies, or locate possible repeated photos before doing your own manual cleanup.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Does it delete files?
- Never. Excluding a copy only omits it from the optional download. Your original files remain intact.
- Are similar-photo matches certain?
- No. Resized or recompressed photos may match, but simple images can produce false matches. Compare every candidate visually. Each group is compared against its first image, not transitively.
- What are the limits?
- 300 files, 50 MB each and 200 MB total. Undecodable images still participate in exact matching but not visual matching. No uploads or automatic saves.
