What Is the Advanced Image Converter?

The Advanced Image Converter turns images and PDF pages into nine output formats — PNG, JPG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO or SVG — right in your browser. Its shared full-resolution adjustment pipeline adds four grayscale methods with intensity, 0–24 px blur, 0–200% edge-aware sharpening, six presets and a before/after preview. PDF page selection, raster tracing, multi-size ICO and TIFF workflows remain available without uploads.

How It Works

Drag images or an unlocked PDF onto the drop zone. For a PDF, select the pages and rendering DPI. Choose a preset or tune grayscale, blur and sharpen controls while comparing the preview, select an output format and convert. The exact adjustment pipeline shown in preview powers every exported file, and changing a control invalidates stale output.

When to Use It

Use it to create black-and-white images, soften or sharpen photos, prepare web assets, make a favicon, unlock HEIC photos or scanner TIFFs, convert logos to SVG, standardize a mixed folder, or render PDF pages without sending files to a server.

Practical Example

For a transparent logo, compare PNG and WebP exports on both a light and dark background. If the destination requires JPEG, choose an intentional background because JPEG cannot retain transparency.

Check Your Result

  • Select the output format and inspect a converted file, not just its extension. Available encoders depend on the browser.
  • Compare small lettering, skin tones, edges and gradients at the final display size after adjusting colors, blur or sharpening.
  • For PDF input, select the needed pages and a suitable rendering DPI. Higher DPI increases pixel count, memory use and output size.
  • When tracing a raster image to SVG, inspect the paths and simplified colors. Embedded-image SVG preserves pixels but does not turn a photograph into editable vector artwork.

Limitations & Privacy

Upscaling cannot recover missing source detail. Large batches and high-resolution PDF pages can exceed device memory; try fewer files or a lower resolution. HEIC is an input format, not an output encoder.

File decoding, adjustments and export happen on your device. Review the exported copy and its metadata before publishing it elsewhere. See the Privacy Policy for site-wide storage, optional analytics and external-service details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is anything uploaded?
No. Decoding and encoding happen entirely in your browser with local code — files never leave your device, which also makes it fast for big batches.
How does raster-to-SVG work?
It traces the image into genuine vector paths (up to 32 colors), which scales perfectly and suits logos, icons and flat artwork. Photos become posterized art — choose Embed Original to wrap the exact pixels in an SVG instead.
What is special about the ICO output?
It writes a real multi-resolution favicon: 16, 32 and 48 pixel versions packed into one .ico file, which browsers and Windows pick from automatically. Non-square images are centered on a transparent square first.
Do the preview and export use the same image adjustments?
Yes. Grayscale, blur and sharpen run in the same order at source resolution for preview and conversion. The preview is only scaled for display.
Can it write HEIC or AVIF?
HEIC is input-only — browsers can read it here but cannot encode it. AVIF output works in Chromium browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave); others will show a clear message. TIFF converts in both directions, written uncompressed for maximum compatibility.
How Are PDF Pages Imported?
Choose all, odd, even or a custom range, then select 72, 144 or 216 DPI. Each chosen page is rendered locally as a separate conversion job. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first, and one import can add up to 50 new pages from a file no larger than 200 MB.
What controls quality and size?
JPG, WebP and AVIF use the quality slider (higher = larger, sharper). PNG, BMP and TIFF are lossless. GIF reduces to a 256-color palette, and each converted file shows its new size before you download.
