Audio & Video Sync Delay Planner
Estimate acoustic travel, electronic latency and the audio or video correction needed for lip sync and distributed sound alignment.
What Is the Audio & Video Sync Delay Planner?
A local alignment worksheet that combines sound travel through air with known audio and display latency, then expresses the correction in milliseconds, video frames and audio samples. A second comparison aligns a nearer fill speaker to a farther reference arrival.
How It Works
Enter the listener distance, room temperature and measured audio/video pipeline latencies. Positive correction means delay audio; negative correction means the audio already arrives later and the video path needs review. Use the speaker-distance comparison for preliminary fill-delay alignment.
When to Use It
Use it while commissioning presentation rooms, streaming paths, confidence monitors or distributed loudspeakers. Measure the finished system with appropriate test equipment before saving DSP or processor values.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Why Does Temperature Matter?
- The speed of sound changes with air temperature. This calculator uses a common dry-air approximation and does not model humidity, wind or altitude.
- Is A Positive Result An Audio Delay?
- Yes. A positive correction means audio arrives earlier than the entered video latency and can be delayed by that amount. A negative value means audio is later.
- Is This A Measurement Tool?
- No. It turns entered measurements and distances into a plan; it does not capture or automatically measure lip sync.
