What Is the Receipt Generator?

The Receipt Generator is a private workspace for issuing payment receipts without an account. Enter your business details and who the payment was received from, itemize what was sold with optional line discounts and taxes, record the payment date and the amount received, and the receipt shows any balance still outstanding. Exact currency-aware decimal math keeps every total accurate, the draft autosaves in this browser, and the receipt exports as a real PDF, print layout, CSV or plain-text summary.

How It Works

Fill in the receipt number and payment date, add the items covered by the payment, and enter the amount received. The preview updates live and the balance outstanding drops to zero when the payment covers the total. Note the payment method — cash, card, transfer or check — in the Notes box, then download the PDF or print a copy for the payer.

When to Use It

Use it whenever someone pays you and wants proof — cash sales, deposits, rent payments, freelance payments, market stalls and any small-business transaction that needs a clean record for both sides.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Makes A Receipt Different From An Invoice?
An invoice requests payment; a receipt confirms payment happened. This tool records the amount received against the itemized total and shows any balance still outstanding after a partial payment.
Where Is My Receipt Stored?
The working draft is saved only in this browser's local storage. Nothing is uploaded, so download the finished file before clearing browser data or switching devices.
How Do I Show The Payment Method?
Add it to the Notes section — for example "Paid in full by card ending 4421" — and it appears on the preview, the PDF and the printed copy.
Can I Issue A Receipt For A Partial Payment?
Yes. Enter the amount actually received and the receipt shows the remaining balance outstanding, which is useful for deposits and installment payments.
