What Is the Carbon Footprint Calculator?

The Carbon Footprint Calculator builds an annual household or personal emissions ledger from electricity, natural gas, vehicle fuel, flights and other editable activities. Every factor is labeled with its unit, source family and review context so results can be audited or replaced rather than hidden behind a universal score.

How It Works

Choose the relevant activity and geography factor, enter only the activities you want to model and inspect each line's activity data, factor and contribution. Replace a factor with a current local value when available, compare scenarios and export the ledger and assumptions.

When to Use It

Use it for planning comparisons and identifying high-contribution categories. It is not a complete product life-cycle assessment, regulatory inventory or verified carbon claim, and grid, fuel, aircraft and non-CO2 assumptions vary by place and method.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Are Emission Factors Editable?
Electric grids, fuels, accounting boundaries and publication years differ. Visible editable factors make the estimate reproducible and allow a better local source to replace a general default.
Does The Total Include Everything I Consume?
No. It covers the entered operational categories and optional custom rows, not a complete economy-wide consumption footprint.
