What Is the Driving Range Calculator?

The Driving Range Calculator uses the same route workspace for gasoline and electric vehicles. It reserves part of the tank or battery, applies a separate weather or operating-condition loss, compares adjusted range with route distance and estimates starting capacity and stop count.

How It Works

Choose gasoline or electric, enter usable tank or battery capacity and the matching efficiency unit, then set a reserve and an evidence-based condition loss for speed, temperature, towing or terrain. Add route distance to see margin and stop planning.

When to Use It

Use it for preliminary road-trip, towing and winter-range planning. Real range depends on speed, grade, wind, traffic, payload, HVAC use, battery or engine condition and the spacing of actual stations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Keep Reserve And Condition Loss Separate?
Reserve is capacity you intentionally avoid consuming; condition loss reduces the vehicle's achievable efficiency. Showing both makes the planning assumption easier to audit.
Are The Suggested Stops Exact?
No. The count is a minimum range-based estimate. Choose real stops around station availability, charging curve, fuel grade, driver breaks and a larger safety margin where needed.
