JSON Patch Builder & Apply Tool
Generate RFC 6902 patches or apply six operation types to a copy of your JSON, with per-operation diagnostics.
What Is the JSON Patch Builder & Apply Tool?
Unlike a structural difference viewer, this tool generates executable JSON Patch operations and applies add, remove, replace, move, copy and test locally. JSON Pointer escaping is supported, including array insertion and append.
How It Works
Paste Original JSON and either a Patch Operations array or Target JSON. Validate & Apply creates a new document; Generate Patch produces operations. Review the operation log, then copy or export JSON and PDF. For example replace /status with ready, then append a tag at /tags/-.
When to Use It
Use when inspecting local developer data or preparing configuration that needs review before production.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I get started?

- What are the important limits?
- The original is not mutated. Execution stops on the first error. Arrays are replaced wholesale when generating patches. Root removal and prototype-related keys are blocked intentionally. Limit 500 operations and 5 MB; no HTTP request is sent.
- Where is my information stored?
- Processing happens in your browser. These workspaces do not upload your inputs or send reports to a server. Session data is not automatically saved; download a project or report before closing. Keep sensitive exports private.
