What Is the ULID Generator & Timestamp Inspector?

A local ULID workspace implementing the 26-character Crockford Base32 representation with a 48-bit millisecond timestamp and 80-bit random component. Generate newline or JSON batches and inspect existing IDs.

How It Works

Choose a batch size and whether same-batch values should be monotonic. Generate IDs, then copy or download the result. Paste an existing ULID to inspect its UTC timestamp, Unix milliseconds and hexadecimal components.

When to Use It

Prepare identifiers for development, fixtures and data workflows. ULIDs disclose their timestamp and are not authentication secrets. Independent batches do not guarantee generation-order sorting within the same millisecond.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where Does Randomness Come From?
The browser Web Crypto random-number generator provides the 80-bit random component. Monotonic batches increment that component after the first ID, checking overflow.
What Does The Inspector Validate?
It checks length, the ULID alphabet and the 128-bit overflow boundary. It cannot prove that a value was generated at its embedded timestamp.
