Electrical Load Calculator & Schedule
Build an auditable service, dwelling or branch-circuit load schedule with explicit demand, duty, reserve and phase assumptions.
What Is the Electrical Load Calculator & Schedule?
The Electrical Load Calculator builds a local worksheet for connected apparent power, real power and planning demand. It supports DC, single-phase, split-phase and balanced three-phase systems; editable load rows; continuous-load treatment; noncoincident groups; reserve; split-phase leg allocation; and separate 2023 or 2026 dwelling reference assumptions.
How It Works
Choose the worksheet type and electrical system, confirm the voltage basis, then enter each load from nameplate VA, watts or amperes. Review every power factor, demand factor, duty classification and noncoincident group. The result separates connected, demand and planned load and can be copied or exported with its assumptions.
When to Use It
Use it to organize early project information, compare load scenarios and prepare a worksheet for qualified review. It does not select a service, feeder, conductor, breaker, disconnect, grounding method or code-compliant installation.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Is This A Code-Compliance Calculator?
- No. It is a planning worksheet with editable assumptions. The adopted code edition, local amendments, utility rules, nameplates and authority having jurisdiction control the actual design.
- Why Are VA And Watts Separate?
- Apparent power in volt-amperes determines current for AC load planning, while watts represent real power. Power factor connects the two values.
- What Does A Noncoincident Group Do?
- It models loads that cannot operate at the same time by retaining only a safely comparable maximum within the named group. Mixed split-phase connection types must be reviewed rather than silently combined.
