Braille Translator
Translate English text to uncontracted Unicode Braille, decode it back and inspect the active dots in each cell.
What Is the Braille Translator?
The Braille Translator converts English letters, numbers, capitals and common punctuation to Grade 1 uncontracted Unicode Braille and decodes the supported cells back to text. A tactile-style cell inspector identifies the numbered dots used by each selected Braille pattern.
How It Works
Choose Text To Braille or Braille To Text, type or paste the source and review the live result. Select an output cell to inspect its dots, then copy or export the translation as text or PDF.
When to Use It
Use it for learning, digital drafts and checking basic uncontracted patterns. Unicode Braille on a screen is not embossed Braille, and high-stakes, educational or production materials should be verified by a qualified Braille transcriber.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Does It Support Grade 2 Contractions?
- No. The scope is deliberately limited to uncontracted Grade 1 English so the behavior stays explicit and reversible.
- Can I Print This As Tactile Braille?
- Not directly. Visual dots are not tactile output. Use verified Braille translation and compatible embossing equipment for accessible physical materials.
