Online Ruler
Calibrate your display, measure between two markers and open a synchronized pop-out or true full-screen ruler.
What Is the Online Ruler?
The Online Ruler calibrates CSS pixels against a credit card, US Letter sheet or custom physical reference. It draws inch divisions to 1/16 or centimeter divisions to 1 millimeter, includes two numeric markers, saves device-specific calibration locally, opens a synchronized measuring-window pop-out and uses the browser Fullscreen API with an expanded-page fallback.
How It Works
Match the on-screen reference bar to the real object, save the calibration, choose ruler units and length, then enter start and end marker positions. Use Pop Out for a separate movable window or Full Screen for the complete display; keep browser zoom unchanged after calibrating.
When to Use It
Use it for approximate craft, layout and everyday checks when a physical ruler is unavailable. Display density, scaling and calibration technique limit accuracy, so do not use it for medical, legal, machining or other safety-critical measurements.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Why Does The Default Ruler Look Incorrect?
- Browsers do not know the physical size of every display. Calibrate it against a known object and keep the same browser zoom and display settings.
- Is Calibration Shared Across Devices?
- No. It is stored only in this browser and applies only to the current display, scaling and zoom configuration.
