Podcast Loudness & LUFS Studio
Estimate program loudness, sample peak, range and crest factor locally, compare podcast/streaming/broadcast targets and render a normalized WAV.
What Is the Podcast Loudness & LUFS Studio?
A fast local loudness-planning workspace for browser-decodable audio. It draws a waveform, estimates channel-averaged program energy, sample peak, 400 ms range and crest factor, compares popular podcast, streaming and EBU targets, and renders a gain-adjusted WAV through a protective limiter.
How It Works
Open audio, choose a delivery preset or custom target and sample-peak ceiling, inspect the recommended gain and export a normalized WAV. Read the methodology note before using results for delivery.
When to Use It
Use it for editing decisions, podcast rough masters and obvious level mismatch checks. It is not a standards-compliant ITU-R BS.1770 / EBU R128 meter and must not replace a calibrated true-peak and gated-loudness compliance pass for broadcast or contractual masters.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Why Is The Result Called An Estimate?
- This browser meter uses sample energy and 400 ms blocks but not the complete K-weighting, gating and oversampled true-peak procedure required by the standards.
- Which Podcast Target Should I Use?
- Many workflows use about -16 LUFS for stereo or -19 LUFS for mono, but the publisher's current delivery specification controls.
- Does Normalizing Repair Distortion?
- No. Gain and limiting cannot restore clipped, noisy or heavily compressed source audio.
