Project Time Tracker
Time your work by project and task with one-click start and stop, daily and weekly reports, billable rates and CSV timesheets — private to this device.
What Is the Project Time Tracker?
The Project Time Tracker records how long you spend on each project and task. Pick a project, describe the work and press Start; the clock keeps running even if you close the tab, because only the start time is stored. Switching to a new task stops the previous timer automatically, so time is never counted twice. Day, week and month reports show total hours, a daily chart split by project, each project's share and the billable amount at its hourly rate. Entries can be edited, added after the fact and exported as a CSV timesheet. Open cards from the Project Management Board on this device can be picked as tasks.
How It Works
Add your projects with a color, optional client and hourly rate, then type what you are working on and press Start. Press Stop when you finish, or start another task to switch. Use Continue to restart recent work with one click. Open the report to step through days, weeks or months, edit any entry's times, project or note, and download a timesheet CSV for the range on screen. Choose whether billable time rounds up to 1, 6, 15 or 30 minutes, set your currency symbol and decide whether weeks start on Monday or Sunday.
When to Use It
Use it for freelance and agency client work, consulting, internal project costing, study time, side projects or any job where you need an honest record of hours. Because everything stays in this browser with no account, it suits private single-device tracking; download a backup to move your history to another device.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Does the timer keep running if I close the tab?
- Yes. The tracker saves the moment you pressed Start, so when you come back the clock shows the full elapsed time. Only one timer runs at a time; starting another task stops the current one.
- How is billable time rounded?
- Tracked time is always exact. If you choose a billing step, each billable entry rounds up to that step (for example 6 minutes, or 0.1 hour) before the hourly rate is applied, which is how most invoicing works.
- Can I add time I forgot to track?
- Yes. Use Add Entry in the Time Entries panel, then set the project, task, start and end. You can also edit or delete any existing entry.
- Where is my data stored?
- Only in this browser's local storage. Nothing is uploaded. Download a backup file to keep a copy or restore your history on another device, and export a CSV timesheet to share hours with a client.
- Does it work with the Project Management Board?
- Yes. If you use the Project Management Board on this device, its open cards appear under From Your Project Board. Picking one fills in the task and uses a project named after its board.
