What Is the Whiteboard?

A canvas-first local Whiteboard with a compact tool rail, contextual formatting, a Follow Website theme with optional light and dark overrides, and a tabbed properties, library, layers and canvas inspector. Double-click to edit text directly, add up to 100 sticky notes from a list, start a workshop timer or present labeled groups with previous/next navigation. Eighteen templates include connected decision flows, mind maps, organization charts, impact-effort matrices, business model canvases, roadmaps and editable analytics dashboards. Nine chart types support editable data tables, CSV/TSV and Excel .xlsx import with worksheet and column selection, and Precise, Sketch and Marker looks. Use one universal color or individual colors for bars, slices and points; customize chart text, axes, grid and mark sizes. Imports are limited to 10 MB and 60 chart rows. Choose Precise, Sketch or Marker looks with stable hand-drawn strokes, seven fill patterns, adjustable roughness up to 6 and fifteen font choices, including locally hosted Caveat, Kalam and Patrick Hand. Pattern spacing runs from 1 to 40 (default 5) and pattern weight starts at 1.5. Draw standalone arrows and lines with scalable end caps; hold Shift to constrain angles. A pop-out moves the same live workspace to another window. Customize tool shortcuts in Canvas settings; shortcuts do not fire while typing. Smooth freehand strokes, save reusable drawing defaults and keep a tool active for repeated drawing. Choose neutral, warm or blueprint paper. Customize rounded corners and solid, dashed or dotted outlines. The workspace combines freehand drawing, geometric shapes, text, sticky notes, images, named groups and labeled connections. Select and move multiple objects, resize from any corner or edge, drag the round handle to rotate (Shift snaps to 15°), lock objects and run connected text-processing nodes. A word-processor style text toolbar sits beside Selection Look with fonts, size steps, bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, text color, horizontal and vertical alignment, bulleted and numbered lists, line and letter spacing, case changes and Clear Formatting. The Text tool places an I-beam text box you can type into immediately; empty boxes disappear on their own. The Layers panel lists the front-most object first, with drag-to-reorder, rename, show/hide, lock, filters and Forward/Backward/Front/Back controls; hidden layers are skipped in exports. Select an object and press the + on any side to add a connection dot there. Full Screen stays in place while typing on iPad and other touch tablets. Open Node Workflow Studio in a new tab and choose whether to bring your whiteboard nodes and connections along. Smart guides snap objects to each other’s edges, centers and equal spacing (hold Alt to move freely). Drop a connector on any object to attach it to the nearest side, drag a connection’s end to re-attach it, and elbow connectors route around objects in their path. Copy and paste styles like a format painter, add soft, hard or glow shadows, gradient fills and individual corner radii. Press Ctrl or Command K for a command palette of every action, or ? for a shortcut sheet. Copy and paste objects between boards, paste images and text from other apps (each line becomes a sticky note), and copy a selection as an image. A minimap, zoom slider and two-finger pinch zoom help on large boards and tablets. The Library adds eight flowchart shapes and 94 searchable icons. Select words while editing to bold, italicize, underline or strike through only those words. Frames work as slides: present them in order with optional per-frame timers, and export or print one PDF page per frame. Version history keeps named and automatic snapshots with previews and undoable restores. Workshop tools add dot voting with a set number of dots per person, reactions and threaded comments with resolve. A saved light or dark canvas, configurable dot or line grid, focus mode, searchable layers, text alignment, and multi-object alignment and distribution keep large boards manageable. Duplicate connected nodes without losing internal wires, or export only a selected portion. Every object supports up to sixteen named and colored inputs and outputs, placed on any edge. Customize each dot’s size, label, label size, roughness and fill pattern. Drag from a dot into empty space to create an arrow, or onto another dot for a bound connection. Selected arrows expose draggable endpoints and curve handles; connections have editable line width, stroke, head and label size. Grid spacing accepts custom values from 5–200 pixels. Sweep the eraser over several objects in one undoable gesture; locked objects are protected. Clear Board removes all objects and connections with confirmation and Undo. Straight, curved and elbow arrows have seven start/end head choices. Projects are stored in this browser using IndexedDB and can be exported as editable JSON or visual SVG and PNG files.

How It Works

Choose a drawing tool and click or drag on the canvas. Use Select to move objects, Shift-click to select several, or drag an empty region for box selection. Edit content and appearance in the inspector. Connect an output port to an input port, then choose Run Local Nodes. Import a saved JSON project to replace the board; Undo can restore the prior board. Start with an idea board, retrospective, storyboard or text pipeline template.

When to Use It

Use it for brainstorming, workshop planning, diagrams, lightweight storyboards and local text-processing flows. This release is single-user and device-local, not a cloud collaboration service. Export JSON regularly, especially before clearing browser data. Images are resized to at most 1,600 pixels; exported PNGs are bounded to 4,096 pixels per side.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I Edit The Nodes?
Yes. Change node text, dimensions, colors and a local operation, then add, remove, rename or color up to sixteen inputs and outputs per node. Click an output, then an input to connect them. Incoming results join in connection order; all outputs carry the same result. Custom Text uses the node’s own text exactly as written rather than processing incoming text. Cycles are reported rather than executed.
How Do Frames, Snapshots And Voting Work?
Draw a frame with the Frame tool (F) or wrap a selection. Objects whose center is inside a frame move with it, Present plays frames in the order shown in the Workshop tab, and PDF exports one page per frame. Snapshots save the whole board in this browser; preview before restoring, and Undo returns to your latest version. Dot voting gives each person a set number of dots; choose Next Voter when passing the device. Votes, reactions and comments are stored in the board file.
Can I Format Text Like A Document?
Yes. Select one or more objects, or start typing in a text box, then use the Text toolbar beside Selection Look. Formatting applies to the whole object: font, size, bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, color, alignment, vertical position, lists, line spacing and letter spacing. With nothing selected, the toolbar sets defaults for new objects.
Does It Include AI Or Multiplayer?
No. This whiteboard runs locally with text, case conversion, trimming, JSON formatting and counting nodes. The separate Node Workflow Studio has provider-connected workflows. Live multiplayer requires a hosted synchronization service and is not simulated here.
How Do I Save Or Share A Board?
The current board autosaves to this browser. Export JSON retains editable objects and embedded images; SVG and PNG are visual snapshots. Importing a project replaces the current board with Undo available. Browser storage can be cleared or restricted, so download backups.
What Are The Keyboard Controls?
Focus the canvas and use Ctrl or Command Z to undo, Shift with that shortcut to redo, Ctrl or Command D to duplicate, Delete to remove unlocked selections and arrow keys to nudge. Shift-arrow moves twenty units. Escape cancels a connection or selection. Default tool shortcuts include V Select, H Pan, P Draw, X Erase, T Text, G Chart and Q Keep Tool Active. Ctrl or Command ] and [ move a selection forward or backward one layer; add Shift to bring it to the front or back. Customize or disable each tool shortcut under Canvas > Keyboard Shortcuts. Tool shortcuts are ignored while typing in text fields.
