Room & Furniture Layout Planner
Arrange measured furniture footprints in a room with drag-and-drop, snapping, rotation, layout checks, undo and JSON, SVG, PNG or PDF exports.
What Is the Room & Furniture Layout Planner?
A local 2D space-planning workspace for one rectangular room. Add furniture presets, enter your real dimensions and arrange the footprints without uploading a floor plan.
How It Works
Set room dimensions and units, add furniture and drag it into position. Use the inspector for exact measurements, color, rotation and duplication. Check overlaps and room boundaries, then save locally or export an editable JSON plan and visual SVG, PNG or PDF.
When to Use It
Compare furniture arrangements, plan a home office or prepare a measured starting layout before moving. This is not a construction drawing or automatic code-compliance checker.
Step-by-Step Workflow
- Measure the usable space. Enter the inside room dimensions, not the exterior building measurements. Choose centimeters or feet before editing. Record alcoves, fixed cabinetry, radiators, doors and windows separately; the planner currently models one rectangular room, not structural walls.
- Replace preset dimensions. Furniture presets are convenient starting sizes. Measure the actual piece, including handles, projecting legs or a chair in use. Add a clear name to each footprint so exported plans are understandable without the editor.
- Compare arrangements. Drag furniture with snapping, use the inspector for exact coordinates and rotate in 90-degree steps. Keyboard arrows move the selected piece; the displayed instructions explain the finer increment. Undo and redo let you test an arrangement without rebuilding the room.
- Check beyond the drawing. Review overlap and out-of-bounds warnings. A rug under a desk may overlap intentionally; a cabinet across a doorway does not become safe because the rectangles fit. Mark the proposed arrangement with tape and check doors, drawers, walking paths and access to outlets.
Practical Example
A 500 × 400 cm room has 20 square meters of floor area. A 140 × 70 cm desk occupies 0.98 square meters, but that does not include the chair or the clearance needed to sit down and move around it.
Check Your Result
- Confirm that feet and centimeters were not mixed during entry.
- Measure every purchased item rather than relying on preset or catalog thumbnail proportions.
- Keep a JSON plan for editing and a labeled PDF or PNG for discussion.
Limitations & Privacy
One rectangular room, up to 100 rectangular furniture footprints and right-angle rotation. Door swings, irregular walls, building regulations, accessibility and structural engineering are not validated. Area calculations alone are not ordering advice for materials.
Plans stay in local browser storage unless you export or share them. Avoid publishing a detailed private home layout with sensitive personal information. See the Privacy Policy for site-wide storage, optional analytics and external-service details.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Are furniture sizes exact product dimensions?
- No. Presets are editable starting estimates. Measure your actual pieces, account for doors and drawers, and allow safe clearances.
- Can I plan an irregular room or multiple floors?
- This version supports one rectangular room with up to 100 rectangular footprints and right-angle rotations. Structural walls, door swings and multi-floor plans are not modeled.
- Can I reopen an exported plan?
- Import the JSON export to resume editing. SVG, PNG and PDF are visual snapshots. Save Plan stores one layout in this browser; clearing site data removes it.
- Are overlaps prevented?
- Dragging keeps an item within the room when it fits. Overlaps are reported but allowed for rugs and layered objects. Oversized items and exact-position edits are flagged if outside the room.
