STL Viewer & Mesh Inspector
Open binary or ASCII STL files locally, inspect mesh geometry and topology, measure the model and export an audit report.
What Is the STL Viewer & Mesh Inspector?
The STL Viewer & Mesh Inspector opens binary and ASCII STL files entirely in the browser. It renders the triangle mesh with orbit, pan and zoom controls and reports dimensions, triangle count, surface area, signed-volume estimate, degenerate facets, duplicate facets, boundary edges and non-manifold edges under an explicit weld tolerance.
How It Works
Drop an STL file into the workspace, confirm the source unit interpretation and inspect the model from standard or free camera views. Toggle the grid, axes, normals and bounds, compare topology findings, then save a PNG or export the measurement and diagnostic report as PDF, CSV or text.
When to Use It
Use it for local preflight, orientation review, rough measurement and finding common mesh problems before slicing or sharing a model. It is not a CAD repair engine, slicer, manufacturing validator or substitute for checking the source model in the intended production workflow.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Are STL Units Stored In The File?
- No. STL coordinates are unitless. Choose how the coordinates should be interpreted before relying on dimensions, area or volume.
- Does A Closed-Edge Result Prove The Model Is Printable?
- No. The inspector catches several useful topology conditions, but self-intersections, wall thickness, normals, tolerances, scale and printer or slicer limits still require separate checks.
- Are Uploaded Models Sent To A Server?
- No. Parsing, inspection, rendering and exports run in the current browser session.
