What Is the Mulch Calculator?

The Mulch Calculator converts a rectangular bed's length, width and depth into measured and waste-adjusted cubic volume. It calculates bulk cubic yards plus the number and estimated cost of 1.5, 2 or 3 cubic-foot retail bags.

How It Works

Enter the bed dimensions and desired finished depth, choose the bag volume printed on the product and add a waste allowance. Use bulk order volume when buying by the yard or the rounded bag count for retail purchasing.

When to Use It

Use it for rectangular planting beds and landscape areas that can be reasonably grouped into rectangles. Irregular contours and existing mulch can change the actual volume.
