Gravel Calculator
Convert area and compacted depth into cubic yards, supplier-adjusted tons and material cost.
What Is the Gravel Calculator?
The Gravel Calculator converts project length, width and compacted depth into cubic feet and yards, applies waste, then uses an editable bulk-density value to estimate tons and material cost. Measured and order volumes remain separate.
How It Works
Measure the finished area and compacted depth, enter the supplier's tons-per-cubic-yard value for the selected aggregate, and add waste for grading and compaction. Use the tonnage to request a supplier quote.
When to Use It
Use it for driveways, paths, drainage layers and aggregate bases. Moisture, stone type, gradation and compaction can materially change bulk density.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Why Is Bulk Density Editable?
- Different aggregates and moisture conditions can weigh substantially different amounts per cubic yard. The supplier's value is more reliable than a universal assumption.
- Should Depth Be Compacted Or Loose?
- Enter the desired finished compacted depth, then use waste or the supplier's compaction guidance to cover settlement and placement.
