What Is the Video Cropper?

The Video Cropper is a private frame-recomposition workspace for moving and sizing an exact crop rectangle across an entire video. It includes freeform even-pixel geometry plus centered 1:1, 4:5, 3:2, 4:3, 16:9, 9:16 and 21:9 presets, a live crop mask, MP4 or WebM delivery, primary-audio retention, quality controls, metadata removal and a versioned JSON receipt with the applied geometry and filter.

How It Works

Open a browser-readable video, select an aspect preset or enter X, Y, width and height in pixels, check the masked source preview and planned output dimensions, then choose delivery format and quality. Cropping requires a re-encode; the first export downloads about 31 MB of FFmpeg WebAssembly while the source stays on the device.

When to Use It

Use it to reframe landscape footage for square or vertical delivery, remove unwanted frame edges, isolate a region of interest or prepare a precise editorial crop. Crop dimensions and offsets are normalized to even pixels for broad H.264 and YUV 4:2:0 compatibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Cropping Stretch The Video?
No. The selected rectangle becomes the output frame without stretching. Use Video Resizer afterward if a separate exact canvas size is required.
Why Are Crop Values Even Numbers?
Many delivery codecs use chroma subsampling that expects even frame dimensions. The tool applies documented even-pixel geometry rather than producing a fragile odd-sized export.
Is The Video Uploaded?
No. The selected file remains local; only the FFmpeg processing code downloads on first use.
