Webcam Test & Online Mirror
Check camera framing, focus, lighting and resolution, or use a private full-screen mirrored preview.
What Is the Webcam Test & Online Mirror?
Webcam Test & Online Mirror previews the camera you choose and reports its active resolution and frame rate. Use a mirrored full-screen monitor, switch to a true camera orientation, take a PNG snapshot and download it locally. The camera stream and snapshot never leave your browser.
How It Works
Choose a camera, start it and allow browser permission. Check framing in the monitor, open the full-screen mirror when useful, and take a snapshot for a still-image quality check. Stop the camera when finished; device names become available after permission is granted.
When to Use It
Use it as a private online mirror or before video calls, remote interviews, livestreams and recording sessions to confirm the correct camera, framing, lighting, focus and actual browser-reported capture settings.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Is The Camera Feed Uploaded?
- No. The preview and snapshot are created locally in your browser tab. BrowserTools does not transmit the feed or store the snapshot on a server.
- Why Is The Resolution Lower Than The Camera's Advertised Maximum?
- The active resolution can be limited by browser constraints, another app using the camera, connection bandwidth, lighting or the device's current mode.
- Does Mirror Preview Change The Downloaded Snapshot?
- Yes. When mirroring is enabled, the local snapshot is captured with the same mirrored orientation shown in the preview.
