Social Media Video Safe-Zone Studio
Preview platform UI with your creator logo, compare placements, reframe creative, check important content and export guides or a CSV report.
What Is the Social Media Video Safe-Zone Studio?
A local placement-check workspace for video editors and social creators. Choose Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Meta Ads, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Reddit, X or Pinterest, plus universal and custom guides. Feed, Reels, Shorts, Stories, Pin, anchor and RTL presets share editable pixel margins. The preview supports a local creator icon or logo and individually switchable creator, caption, engagement, navigation, CTA, audio and progress layers. Feed controls appear around the media; immersive controls appear over it. YouTube vertical ad and Pinterest Idea Ad measurements are identified separately from editable planning estimates.
How It Works
Choose Platform and Placement, then open or drop a local image or video. Use Canvas for dimensions and fill/fit settings, Zones for per-edge visibility, margins, custom colors and opacity, and App UI for overlay groups, creator name, local profile image and sample copy. Open Compare & Inspect to review up to four placements with synchronized playback. Select Drag Media to reposition a crop, or use zoom and numeric position controls. Add quick boxes for a logo, headline, subject or call to action, or draw a custom content box; select a box to move it and drag its corner to resize. The report separates cropped area from area inside keep-clear zones and can be downloaded as CSV. Show Shared Area displays the common safe region in source-image coordinates after every reframe. Combined PNG and SVG export this region onto the active canvas; use the same crop in your editor. Save Comparison Project preserves placements, frames and content boxes. Version 1 and 2 guides still open. Media and creator imagery are excluded from every project and must be reopened separately.
When to Use It
Use this before posting a vertical edit, positioning a sponsor logo, designing captions or handing a safe-area guide to another editor. Platform UI varies with caption length, device, app version and advertising add-ons. A guide is a planning aid, not a guarantee that every viewer sees the same layout. Always confirm the actual placement preview.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Are all templates official platform specifications?
- No. The YouTube vertical ad rectangle comes from Google’s published overlay, and Pinterest Idea Ad margins come from Pinterest’s specifications. Other guides are editable BrowserTools planning estimates with source notes. UI mockups are representative, not exact replicas of every device, account, experiment or app version.
- Does the tool upload or render my video?
- No. Your selected file is previewed through a local browser object URL. The exported PNG and SVG contain guide geometry only, not your video. This tool does not burn overlays into a video or send media to a platform.
- Why can expanded captions cover the safe area?
- A platform can expand captions, shopping panels or calls to action over more of the frame. Enable the extra caption buffer as a conservative planning allowance, then test the final platform preview. It is not a simulation of every possible expanded panel.
- Can I use the overlay in Premiere, Resolve or another editor?
- Yes. Export a PNG at matching canvas dimensions, place it over your edit and keep important elements inside the outlined area. The safe center is transparent. Hide or delete the guide layer before exporting your finished video.
- Can I save a custom template?
- Save Guide Project and Save Comparison Project create the same portable version 3 JSON format. It includes guide appearance, UI toggles, sample text, target placements, independent media reframing, and important-content boxes. Media is excluded. Older version 1 and 2 projects remain supported.
- How does the shared safe area work across different aspect ratios?
- Each placement maps its safe rectangle back to the original media coordinates, accounting for fill/fit, zoom and position. The shared area is the intersection of those rectangles. It can disappear if the chosen crops have no common visible region. Added placements use baseline template margins; the active guide uses your custom margins. Combined guide exports correspond to the active canvas and its exact reframe, not every output aspect ratio at once.
- Does the content check automatically recognize or track faces and text?
- No. You draw or position boxes around important content. The tool calculates what percentage of each box is cropped and what percentage falls within reserved overlay margins. Boxes stay attached to source pixels rather than following moving subjects. Scrub the video and check multiple moments. A Within Guide result is advisory, not a guarantee about changing live platform interfaces.
- Can I hide app controls without changing the guide?
- Yes. The Zones and App UI master switches are independent. Inside App UI, switch the creator, caption, engagement buttons, navigation, CTA, audio and progress bar separately. These change the illustrative preview; margins remain under your control. Feed chrome outside the media is not part of an exported safe-zone image.
- Is my creator icon uploaded or included in exports?
- No. The icon or logo uses a temporary local browser URL and is visible only in the platform mockup. It is deliberately excluded from overlay exports and project files, and must be reopened after reloading the page.
